Version 2026-10-10

Submission & Content Release Agreement

These are the terms for anything you send to Sergeant Curtis. The short version: you keep ownership, you let us use it on the channel, nobody gets paid unless we agree in writing, and you promise you have the right to send it.

1. Who this agreement is between

This Submission & Content Release Agreement ("Agreement") is between you, the person submitting material through this form ("you"), and the operators of the Sergeant Curtis YouTube channel and its related accounts ("we", "us", "the Channel").

By checking the box on the submission form and submitting, you agree to these terms for everything you submit, including video, audio, images, documents, links, and written information ("Material").

2. What you are telling us is true

You confirm that you are at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into this Agreement.

You confirm that one of the following is true for each piece of Material: (a) you personally recorded or created it and have not given exclusive rights to anyone else; (b) you own or control the rights to it and can license it; (c) it was released to you or the public by a government agency, for example through a public records / FOIA request; or (d) it is already publicly available and you are only pointing us to it.

If you did not record the Material yourself, you will tell us where it came from as accurately as you can. You understand we may verify ownership or source before using anything.

You confirm that the Material was not obtained illegally, does not contain information you were legally required to keep confidential, and has not been edited in a way that misrepresents what happened.

3. Permission you are giving us (license)

For Material you own or control, you grant the Channel a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, and irrevocable license to use, reproduce, edit, cut, caption, narrate over, blur, translate, publish, distribute, display, and monetize the Material, in whole or in part, in any media now known or later developed. This includes YouTube, YouTube Shorts, other social platforms, thumbnails, compilations, podcasts, and promotional material for the Channel.

Non-exclusive means you keep ownership and can still use your Material yourself or license it to others. We are not buying your copyright.

You allow us to sublicense these rights to platforms and partners only as needed to publish, distribute, monetize, or defend the content (for example, YouTube, editors, and licensing or rights-management partners acting on our behalf).

For public records or publicly available Material that you do not own, this section applies only to whatever rights you do hold (for example, your written description or your own commentary). We will independently confirm our right to use that Material.

4. No obligation and no payment

We are not required to use, review, respond to, or return any Material. Submitting does not guarantee a video will be made.

You will not receive payment, royalties, or other compensation unless we both sign a separate written agreement that says otherwise.

We may make content about the same incident from other sources. Submitting a tip does not give you any rights over videos made from other sources.

5. Credit and privacy

You can tell us whether you want to be credited by name, by a handle, or not at all. We will make a reasonable effort to follow your preference, but credit is not a condition of this license.

You understand that Material may show identifiable people, vehicles, homes, or locations. We may blur, mute, or redact faces, names, addresses, plates, minors, and other personal details at our discretion. We do not knowingly publish the private contact details of anyone shown.

We will not publish your email address or phone number. We use your contact information only to follow up about your submission and to keep a record of this release.

6. Your responsibility if something you told us is untrue

If any statement you make in this Agreement is false (for example, you did not actually have the right to grant this license), you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Channel and its operators, editors, and partners from claims, damages, and reasonable legal costs that result from that false statement.

You release the Channel from claims relating to its use of the Material as permitted by this Agreement, including claims for invasion of privacy, right of publicity, or defamation arising from accurate depictions of the Material you supplied.

7. Ongoing cases and safety

If the incident is part of an open investigation, a pending court case, or a lawsuit you are involved in, you will tell us on the form. We may hold or decline Material for that reason.

This form is not a way to report a crime or emergency. If someone is in danger, call 911 or your local emergency number.

8. Removal requests

You may ask us to stop using your Material in new content at any time by contacting us with your reference number. Because the license is irrevocable, we are not required to remove videos already published, but we will consider reasonable requests in good faith, especially those involving safety or privacy.

9. Electronic acceptance and records

You agree that checking the box and submitting the form is your electronic acceptance of this Agreement and has the same effect as a signature, consistent with the U.S. E-SIGN Act and similar laws.

We store a copy of this exact Agreement version, your name and email, the date and time, your IP address, and your browser information as a record of your acceptance.

10. General

If any part of this Agreement is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. This Agreement is the full agreement about the Material you submit unless replaced by a signed written agreement. We may update these terms for future submissions; the version you agreed to is the one stored with your submission.
